Brake Replacement and Repair Service Case Studies
The Datang Dabancheng Wind Farm is affiliated with Datang Urumqi Dabancheng Wind Power Development Co., Ltd. The wind farm has a total installed capacity of 48 MW and comprises 24 units of the Shanghai Electric W2000C-87-70 model. The yaw brakes on these units have been in operation for 10 years. Recently, a series of problems have emerged, including severe oil leakage from the brakes, oil soaking of the brake discs, scratches on the brake discs, significant wear of the friction pads, frequent activation of the hydraulic station, and repeated alarms from the hydraulic station indicating low hydraulic oil levels. As a result, the wind turbines have been experiencing abnormal noises and vibrations during yaw starts, stops, and while yawing. Due to insufficient braking force, the turbines exhibit slippage when parked in the yaw position, compromising the safety and stability of the units.
In January 2025, based on a site survey conducted by energy technicians from the Economic Development Zone, it was decided to replace the yaw brakes of 24 wind turbines at the Dabancheng Wind Farm and to clean the yaw brake discs, removing the glaze layer that had formed on the disc surfaces. As of now, the newly installed KHQG-120 yaw brakes on the 24 wind turbines at the Dabancheng Wind Farm have not experienced any faults, such as abnormal yaw vibrations, unusual noises, or parking slip.
