Yaw Brake Rotor Repair Service Case
The Yandun Wind Farm, under the New Energy Branch of Huadian Xinjiang Power Generation Co., Ltd., is located in the southeastern part of Hami City, approximately 140 km from Hami’s urban center. It is situated within the wind-intertwined zone of the Yandun area, which is part of the second-phase project of the Hami Wind Power Base. Currently, the Yandun Wind Farm has a total of 100 Goldwind 2.0 MW wind turbine units. The yaw brakes used in these wind turbines are manufactured by two suppliers: Huawu and Jiaozuo. Each wind turbine is equipped with 12 sets of yaw brakes. In recent years, brake oil leakage issues have gradually emerged, severely contaminating the brake discs and causing the brake friction pads to become soaked in oil. Moreover, the brake discs have suffered significant scratches, resulting in abnormal noises and vibrations during yaw movements of the turbines. Particularly severe noises and vibrations occur when the turbines start or stop yawing. Additionally, the hydraulic system exhibits serious oil leaks, leading to frequent starts of the hydraulic station’s motor and causing the wind turbines to slip while parked, thereby inflicting substantial losses on the wind farm.
In January 2024, Kaihua Energy carried out maintenance and repair work on this wind farm. As of now, the units at the Yandun Wind Farm have not experienced any further issues such as brake oil leaks, brake disc scratches, or parking brake slippage.
