Wind Turbine Yaw System Technical Upgrade Service Case
The Datang Shanxi Hongtiguan Wind Farm, which is equipped with 33 Huachuang 1500/93 wind turbines, went into operation in December 2014. Since commissioning, the turbines have consistently experienced abnormal noises and vibrations related to yaw motion, as well as oil leaks from the brakes. Since the wind farm began operations, the original manufacturer of the yaw brakes has been contacted multiple times to come to the site for troubleshooting. The original manufacturer has successively carried out several repairs, including replacing the yaw brake pads, sealing rings in the oil cylinders, and adding an additional set of brakes; however, the issues have yet to be fully resolved.
Based on the actual conditions of the on-site units, Kaifeng Energy conducted a detailed analysis and assessment, and carried out the retrofitting of 33 wind turbines in two phases. The original six 90-brake units were upgraded to seven newly developed 105-type yaw brakes designed by the company. Additionally, the damaged brake discs were milled and repaired. Phase I, involving 17 turbines, was completed in July 2020. To date, not a single turbine has experienced yaw vibration, abnormal noises, or oil leaks. Phase II, covering the remaining 16 turbines, was also completed in May 2024.
