Case Study: Specialized Safety Management Services for Yaw Brake Calipers and Hydraulic Stations
The Yanchi Wind Farm is equipped with 33 GW87/1500 wind turbine units manufactured by Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd. Each unit has a capacity of 1.5 MW, for a total installed capacity of 49.5 MW. The turbines were fully commissioned and connected to the grid on April 30, 2015, and have been in operation for eight years to date. Common issues with the yaw hydraulic disc brakes of these wind turbines include oil leaks and oil contamination on the yaw brake discs, which lead to vibrations, unusual noises, and wear during the yaw braking process. If these abnormal conditions persist over an extended period, they can easily cause damage to the yaw large gear and the yaw gearbox, increasing downtime, maintenance costs, and compromising the operational safety of the turbines. The brand of the yaw hydraulic disc brakes used in these wind turbines is Jiangxi Huawu, model SB200-A09, while the hydraulic station is a product manufactured by HAWE.
In January 2024, the Kaifa Energy Technology team developed a special plan to address the issues at this wind farm and carried out repair and maintenance work. As of now, the wind turbine units at the Yanhu Wind Farm have not experienced any further failures, such as brake oil leaks or abnormal vibration noises.
